Under-inflated tyres and road accidents April 23, 2021 During 2019-20, according to the Bureau of Statistics, a total of 9701 traffic accidents happened on 320,000 kilometers of High Type and Low Type roads of Pakistan. These unwanted road crashes transported 5436 lives to the valley of death and left 12317 injured. As per data of the Punjab Emergency Service, the number of Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) is experiencing downtrends from the previous years, which is a clear proof of the good performance of the government officials and licensed drivers in the country. It is sought that a major portion of these accidents is caused by the underinflated tyres. Careful estimations establish that thirty-eight percent of the vehicles in Pakistan are on the go with at least one tyre underinflated by twenty-five percent. Dangote moves to curb road crashes, begins training centre

Punch Newspapers Sections Gbenga Odogun, Lokoja Published 3:42 am As part of its measures to curb Road Traffic Crashes, the Dangote Cement Plc has launched a Drivers’ Training Centre at the Dangote Cement Plant, Obajana, Kogi State. The new centre is charged with the responsibility of attending to all training needs of the Dangote Cement Plc’s drivers. A statement issued on Tuesday and made available to journalists in Lokoja noted that no fewer than 50 drivers made the list of first set of graduands from the new centre last weekend. The statement quoted Head of the Dangote Drivers Training Centre, Mr Harisson Pepple, as saying that the training was in line with the company’s zero tolerance policy for auto crashes.
