CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 19, 2021 /PRNewswire/ DreamKey Partners completed $31 million in real estate development in 2020, bringing total investments to $353 million since its founding in 1989. DreamKey Partners, formally Charlotte-Mecklenburg Housing Partnership, is a full-service real estate development organization focused on affordable housing that oversees land and acquisition, design and entitlement, capital sources, construction and management. The organization also includes community engagement – listening sessions with neighborhood leaders and residents – as a critical component of its development process.

Leaders of Charlotte s major housing and social service nonprofits and some neighborhoods are speaking out in favor of the city s proposed 2040 Comprehensive Plan. They say it will expand affordable housing and correct past inequities.
The 2040 Plan has faced criticism from some developers and residents since it was introduced last fall. They re concerned that the vision for future development in Charlotte would threaten the character of neighborhoods, especially because of a proposal to allow multifamily housing in areas currently zoned single-family only.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. A Charlotte lawmaker and the NAACP are calling for action after a WCNC Charlotte investigation uncovered widespread lending disparities that show Black people are more likely to be denied home loans than their white counterparts.
After hearing our findings, Rep. Alma Adams (D), NC-12, questioned the problem during a recent meeting. It is still a problem and it shouldn t be, Rep. Adams said. We really need to address this issue. This is a critical issue.
