WCCB Charlotte s CW July 27, 2021 CHARLOTTE, N.C. A pickup truck driver was killed and his passenger was seriously injured after a crash with a Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Light Rail train in south Charlotte Monday night. Officers responded to East Hebron Street, off of South Boulevard, around 9:50 p.m. after a report of a crash. Upon arrival, officers found a 2017 Toyota Tundra and a LYNX Blue Line train which had been damaged as a result of a collision. The driver of the Toyota, identified as 27-year-old Baltazar Tiquiram Us, was pronounced dead at the scene by MEDIC. The four passengers aboard the Light Rail train did not report any injuries as a result of the collision; however, MEDIC did transport the front passenger of the Toyota to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.
