Hickory Firefighters Respond To Chemical Spill Wednesday Morning

The Hickory Fire Department responded to a chemical spill at a local business. At 8:13 a.m. Wednesday (May 5), Hickory firefighters responded to Shurtape Technologies at 1620 Highland Ave NE. Upon arrival at 8:16 a.m., firefighters found employees evacuating the building and the spill being contained by the building’s safety systems and Shurtape’s Emergency Response Team.
Initially firefighters responded with two engines, one ladder truck, rescue unit, and one command unit. Additional personnel and units also were called to the scene including the Hickory Police Department, Catawba County EMS, Catawba County Emergency Management, and Charlotte Fire Department.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. A Charlotte family is out of a home after a fire destroyed their apartment Monday. My family, we almost lost our lives last night,” Che Farmer said.
Farmer said the fire started in her and her husband’s room as he was sleeping. Farmer said they were alerted to the fire after her daughter heard family members shouting upstairs.

CHARLOTTE – Charlotte Fire Department responded to a blaze at an East Charlotte business Saturday night.
The fire broke out at a business in a strip mall in the 3100 block of Monroe Road near Washburn Avenue.
CMPD blocked off a portion of Monroe Road while fire officials investigated.
No word on the cause of the fire.
