Kyetra Bryant said she was the victim of that type of bewildering racism on Thanksgiving last year after she and her boyfriend had checked in with American Airlines at the Charlotte Douglas Airport in Charlotte, N.C. That weekend, she noticed a peculiar charge on her bank statement associated with the airline an “African American, African service charge.”
“I said hmmm, ‘African American, African service charge.’ It was just on my cell phone because I was looking at my banking app. I’m like ‘what is this?’” she explained.

Earlier this week, Chesley Sullenberger said on Twitter that “it was hard to believe” that Jan. 15, 2021, was the 12th anniversary of the so-called “Miracle on the Hudson.”
“It was a day when unforeseen crisis impacted the lives of many and forced passengers, crew and first responders to overcome the unknown by doing one thing: working together” Sullenberger wrote.

RJ Leeper Construction is part of a $115 million contract to renovate the Charlotte Convention Center.
R.J. Leeper Construction is a major player in the city’s construction business. And that includes contracts doled out by the city of Charlotte.
Leeper is one of three construction companies in charge of a $115 million expansion of the Charlotte Convention Center, as well as a $600 million renovation of Charlotte Douglas Airport’s main terminal. The firm was also picked to build a Joint Operations Communications center.
This week, a new investment fund – Bright House Capital – announced it was buying the firm. As part of the deal, James Mitchell – the longest-serving Charlotte City Council member – would be a co-owner and president.

Doug and Randi Brown lived overseas for the last seven years serving in the Air Force and had just moved back to the United States and were desperate to see family in Iowa now that they had a baby on the way. We weren t sure what was going to happen, but we were sure we wouldn t be heading back to Virginia that night, Doug told ABC-affiliate WSOC.
After visiting family, the young couple was heading home to Virginia, 330 miles away from Charlotte, for Christmas when Randi s water broke about 20 minutes before they landed in Charlotte for a quick layover.

Last week, a passenger on a United Airlines flight from Orlando to Los Angeles reportedly died at a hospital after the plane was diverted to New Orleans for a medical emergency.
