HAMPTON A Hampton Beach family s plan to bring food trucks to the beach area, in the parking lot outside their business along Ocean Boulevard, has come to a screeching halt.
Charlie Preston said he wanted to bring food trucks to the beach after seeing the success of Congdon’s After Dark in Wells, Maine.
Congdon’s Doughnuts & Family Restaurant offers the only “food truck park in New England” during the summer in its parking lot. Food trucks are a rage across America today,” Preston said.
The problem is Hampton’s zoning ordinance does not allow them.
Preston went before the town Zoning Board last week requesting a variance from section 11.5 of the town s zoning ordinance stating “all businesses shall be located in a building with a permanent roof.”
