The Labour MP Rosianne Cutajar will not be returned to the Cabinet of ministers, after a parliamentary standards investigation found irregularities with her role as a broker in a property sale for Yorgen Fenech, the Tumas magnate accused of masterminding the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
Cutajar, who resigned as parliamentary secretary after MaltaToday broke the story of her role in the Mdina property sale, was informed by Prime Minister Robert Abela of his decision at a meeting at Castille.

Rosianne Cutajar has offered to resign from her post as Parliamentary Secretary pending the outcome of an investigation before the Commissioner for Standards in Public Life.
Announcing the resignation on Facebook, Cutajar insisted that she has never done business with Yorgen Fenech, and that she cut off all contact with him once he was charged with masterminding the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia. Let me be clear: throughout the years I ve known Yorgen Fenech, I never used any of my political appointments to influence any process or decision. I have never asked to do so, and even if I were asked, I would have never gone against the pact of trust I had with you, she wrote.

Standards Commissioner George Hyzler is investigating claims that Parliamentary Secretary Rosianne Cutajar pocketed thousands in cash from a property deal involving Yorgen Fenech and which she helped broker
An ethics probe into claims that Rosianne Cutajar took a broker’s fee from a property deal involving Yorgen Fenech is ongoing, Standards Commissioner George Hyzler said.
Contacted by MaltaToday, Hyzler refrained from giving any detail but said the investigation is ongoing.
