Sentence handed down in Rochester murder of Iraqi refugee

ROCHESTER, Minn. – A Rochester man is sentenced to prison for the killing of an Iraqi refugee.
Sao Yim Jr., 27, was ordered Monday to spend 15 years behind bars for the murder of Ahmed Muafaq Abdulhu Al Naddf, who was found shot to death in the 2800 block of Charles Court NW on March 12, 2018. Yim Pleaded was convicted of 2nd degree murder and possession of a firearm after being convicted of a crime of violence in October 2020.
Yim will get credit for two years, nine months, and 15 days already served.

The man who fatally shot a father of two nearly three years ago was sentenced Monday to 15 years in state prison for the murder. This was a senseless act of violence, Judge Kathy Wallace said in handing down her sentence. A wife was stripped of her husband and two children, two very young children, ages 7 and 9, were stripped of having a father for the rest of their lives.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â Metro Nashville Police officers arrested and charged a 16-year-old with criminal homicide in a deadly, New Year s Eve shooting.
Police say Iâyendaye Byrd shot and killed 39-year-old Demarius Scales at the 100 block of Charles Court in Nashville.
Byrd was involved in an argument with a girl that turned physical when Scales came out to intervene. Byrd and Scales then began arguing, during which Byrd pulled a gun.
Scales went into his residence and retrieved a gun. Shots were fired and Scales was killed.

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The final act in a 2018 murder case has been pushed back to early 2021.
Sao Yim Jr., 27 of Rochester, was scheduled to be sentenced Friday for the fatal shooting of Ahmed Muafaq Abdulhu Al Naddf. That has now been rescheduled for February 8, 2021, in Olmsted County District Court.
Al Haddf, a refugee from Iraq, was found shot to death on March 12, 2018, in the 2800 block of Charles Court NW in Rochester. Yim pleaded not guilty to 2nd degree murder and possession of a firearm after being convicted of a crime of violence. He was found guilty in October 2020.
