Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe College (LCOOC) celebrated its spring commencement ceremony, honoring 58 graduates, on Saturday, May 22, 2021. The class of 2021 is the first class to include bachelor’s degree graduates.
Congratulatory remarks were offered by Lorraine Gouge, vice chair of the Lac Courte Oreilles tribal governing board and Monica Chase, JD, LCOOC board of regents vice chair. Keynote speaker Sarah Howes, an Anishinaabe artist, designer, teacher, and community organizer from the Fond du Lac reservation in Minnesota, spoke of her experience as an Indigepreneur.
The student body was represented by two honors students; Lydia DeNasha, representing the bachelor’s in business graduates, and Tina Garner, representing the bachelor’s in human services graduates.
