Walk-up clinics
Monday marked the first day shots were administered at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellville. The church, 48 Church St., is hosting a walk-up clinic each Monday through May 24.
Further north, the Franklin Township Fire Department will host a walk-up clinic at its station, 505 Boyce Road, each Tuesday through May 1, starting April 20.
Mass vaccination clinic at fairgrounds
The mobile, drive-through clinic at the Richland County Fairgrounds will be open Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will not be open Wednesday as previously scheduled.
The clinic, which has the one-dose COVID-19 vaccine developed by Johnson and Johnson, is scheduled to be open Wednesdays, Thursdays and select Saturdays through the first week of June.
Supply of vaccine
This time last month, about 13% of people living in Richland County had received at least one shot.
If the current pace of vaccinations continues and interest in getting a COVID-19 vaccine doesn t wane, 70% of people living in Richland County could have partial protection against the disease by August.
For the past few weeks, Richland County has been receiving anywhere from 2,300 to 3,000 doses of vaccine each week, splitting them among about a dozen providers.
Sarah Humphrey, health commissioner of Richland Public Health, has told the News Journal that current supply has matched the level of demand.
