HALEIWA, Hawaii Almost one year after his diagnosis of a stage IV glioblastoma brain tumor, J. Brett Newburn died peacefully at home in Haleiwa, Hawaii, in the early morning of April 25, 2021.
He was cared for to the end by the love of his life, Sarah Speed, and supported by his many friends and family who came to Hawaii to be with him in his closing days.
Brett is survived by his brother, John Christopher Newburn of Quincy, Massachusetts; his father, John Newburn, and step-mother Harrah Lord of Rockport, Maine.
MEMBERS of Pershore Benefice and Bredon Hill Group Churches have left gift bags for NHS teams in Worcestershire to say thank you. Church members and others around Pershore and Bredon Hill have been donating small items to fill the bags, including toiletries, hand cream, lip balm, chocolates, biscuits and small jars of jam. Packages are designed for both male and female staff. Over 100 treat bags have been delivered to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital ICU and more are coming together to be delivered for staff at the Pershore Community Hospital. Organiser Sara Speed said:“We have made up lots of pretty paper bags, each filled with small treats, plus a finishing touch - a hand-made ‘thank you’ heart.”
