NHS Digital drafts in Test and Trace CIO as interim chief

The chief information officer of NHS Test and Trace, Simon Bolton, has been appointed as interim chief executive of NHS Digital.
Bolton, who will formally assume the role on 4 June, replaces Sarah Wilkinson, who is stepping down after four years in charge. In the meantime, the two will “work closely [together]… to ensure continuity of leadership and delivery”, NHS Digital said.
Bolton has been Test and Trace CIO since August 2020. Before that, he held senior technology posts at Jaguar Land Rover and Rolls-Royce. At the start of his career, Bolton spent 15 years with IT vendor HP.
