Production recently got underway on The CW s DC Comics adaptation, Naomi, and a first official look at Kaci Walfall (
Power) as the titular teenage hero is now online courtesy of a promo still which pays homage to issue #1 of the comic series.
Writer/producer Ava DuVernay shared an image of Naomi zipping through a school corridor on her skateboard earlier this month when cameras started rolling, but this marks our first proper look at the Walfall as the character.

Oscar-nominated director Ava DuVernay took to Twitter to share the first official image from The CW’s upcoming series adaptation of DC Comics’
Naomi, featuring our first look at lead star Kaci Walfall as the titular teen hero. The photo obviously pays homage to the character’s first comic book cover in 2019, which was illustrated by artist Jamal Campbell. The network hasn’t given the project an official series order yet, but production on its pilot is still currently underway.
First look at @kaciwalfall as NAOMI from @ARRAYNow + @warnerbrostv. I love this show so much and have had sheer, downright fun creating it. Feel like a teenager again. LOL. Kaci is a phenom. Truly excited for her and grateful to all involved in bringing NAOMI to life! xo https://t.co/CAi23C1nG0pic.twitter.com/FAirg0WaSm
Kaci Walfall will star as the multiverse-hopping high schooler in the pilot

The CW showed off the first image from its upcoming DC Comics pilot “Naomi” from Ava DuVernay. And as you’ll see below, it’s a pretty faithful recreation of the multiverse-hopping teenager in her comics debut.
Kaci Walfall has been tapped to star as the titular hero, an “effortlessly cool and confident high school student” who discovers she has the ability to travel across the multiverse.
The series is adapted from the comic “Naomi,” which launched last year from Brian Michael Bendis and David F. Walker and was illustrated by Jamal Campbell. DuVernay is executive producer and writer on the pilot with Jill Blankenship.
The showrunners have been announced as Dan Milano (co-creator,
Glitch Techs), Christa Starr (producer,
Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Return), and Justin Ridge (supervising director/executive producer,
Star Wars Resistance). The family show is based on the middle-grade fantasy book series of the same name by Tui T. Sutherland. Milano and Starr are adapting the books for the screen.
Sutherland’s series which comprises novels, graphic novels, and short stories tells the tale of a warring land ruled by dragons; the books are narrated from the various dragons’ points of view.
The show is produced by Warner Bros. Animation (WBA). It is the first animated project to come out of DuVernay’s wide-ranging overall deal with Warner Bros. Television Group, which Deadline reported to be worth $100 million.
