New changes in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention mask guidelines are still being digested by some Kodiak businesses.
The CDC released revised guidelines on May 13 stating that people can largely forgo wearing facial masks indoors if they have been fully vaccinated against the novel coronavirus.
People who have been fully vaccinated can resume normal activities indoors without masks or observing social-distancing standards, CDC guidelines state.Â
However, there are exceptions where masks are required, such as when mandated by federal, state, local or tribal laws, rules or regulations, including local workplace guidance. Per federal guidelines, masks are still required on airplanes, buses and other forms of public transportation, as well as health care facilities, prisons and homeless shelters, according to the CDC.
