The funding is being paid by government A council is in a mad dash for cash, to get a share of up to £20m in UK Government funding aimed at “levelling up” constituencies across the country. Denbighshire council’s cabinet made the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund an urgent agenda item on Tuesday. It followed news Wrexham county council was applying for up to £20m each for both Wrexham and Clwyd South constituencies, but the bids have to be in by June 18. As Clwyd South takes in part of south Denbighshire, including Corwen and Llangollen, Denbighshire was asked to submit bids for part of the cash – around £4-5m if the entire £20m award is made.
A VANDAL has smashed the office windows of Wrexham’s MP in the early hours of Saturday morning. North Wales Police have been given CCTV footage by the MP’s office that shows the vandal in action on Saturday morning at around 1.50am. The man was filmed throwing rock at one of the front windows of the office, on Regent Street, then walking away He returned a few seconds later to do the same to an adjacent window. The town’s Conservative MP Sarah Atherton said she was furious about the incident, but it made her all the more determined to crack down on crime in the town centre.
