BOSTON House Speaker Ron Mariano named his senior leadership team Thursday, assembling a group that includes four women and one member of color to help shape the agenda for the House as Democrats look to focus, in part, on the state s COVID-19 and vaccination response.
Mariano, who succeeded former Speaker Robert DeLeo in December, has tapped Easton Rep. Claire Cronin for the number two slot in Democratic leadership as majority leader, a position Mariano held himself under DeLeo.
Cronin, who last session co-chaired the Judiciary Committee, successfully guided the House through the passage of a major reform of policing in Massachusetts and an expansion of abortion access. Cronin was first elected to the House in 2012.
