Dianne W. Nelson, 82, of Jamestown, died Monday, April 12, 2021, in UPMC Hamot. A lifelong Jamestown resident, she was born May 27, 1938, the daughter of the late Robert and Oleita Seeley White. Dianne was a 1956 graduate of Jamestown High School and later graduated from WCA Hospital School of Nursing. Her career as a nurse began at WCA Hospital and included work in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., before she returned to Jamestown to be closer to family and start one of her own in the late 1960s. She returned to the workforce in the early 1980s as a home health care coordinator for Upjohn Healthcare (later Care-Givers) and was shortly thereafter promoted to be the manager of the Jamestown office, where she worked until retirement and was recognized for excellence in managing the top regional CareGivers office several times.

Apr 12, 2021 Jason Ronald Gould, 45, of Cowing Road, Lakewood, died unexpectedly on Friday, April 9, 2021, at UPMC Chautauqua. He was born June 2, 1975, in Springville, N.Y., to Dolores Steffan Gould and the late Ronald Gould. Jason was a graduate of Southwestern High School where he played football. He also achieved an Associate’s Degree from SUNY JCC and Bachelor’s Degree in History Education from SUNY Fredonia. He was employed for many years by GA Child and Family Services as a counselor. A lover of music, Jason was a passionate DJ. He collected vinyl records and loved to “scratch,” creating his own beats and sounds.

The Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services is holding a free drive-in rabies vaccination clinic on Saturday, April 17. It runs from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Village of Falconer highway building, located at 1 Coleson Drive in Falconer. Animals must be pre-registered to get a vaccination. Walk-ins will not be accepted. There are a limited number of spots available, so pet owners should register as soon as possible by clicking here.

M. Susan (Axelson) Wright M. Susan (Axelson) Wright, 81, of Jamestown, N.Y., went to be with her Lord and Savior April 1, 2021, at UPMC Chautauqua in Jamestown, N.Y. She was born November 7, 1939, in Jamestown, N.Y., daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Lindstrom Axelson. Sue was a 1957 graduate of Jamestown High School and a 1960 graduate of Highland Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester, N.Y. After graduation from nursing school Sue earned her RN and worked for Jamestown General Hospital and then WCA Hospital, retiring in 1998 after many years as a surgical nurse in the operating room. Upon retirement, she enjoyed helping with household sales, knitting, baking, cooking, and celebrating her Swedish heritage. But most of all she spent her life helping others and trying to always do something special for someone.
