Former Bengals assistant Hue Jackson interviews for Steelers OC position

STEELERS SIGN QB HASKINS, LOOK FOR NEW O C

Indiana, PA / WDAD AM1450 & 100.3FM Jan 22, 2021 7:31 AM The Steelers yesterday signed former Washington quarterback Dwayne Haskins, who was the number-15 overall draft pick in 2019. Haskins was released by Washington last month after going 3-10 as a starter over two seasons and running afoul of his teammates and the NFL for attending a party with unmasked people.  He was signed to a one-year futures contract. The Steelers also have reportedly interviewed former Browns head coach Hue Jackson about the vacant offensive coordinator job.  ESPN reports Jackson interviewed this week.  And another source reports the Steelers have asked for permission to talk to Chargers quarterbacks coach Pep Hamilton about the O.C. job.

Latest report states Matt Canada is the front-runner for Steelers OC

Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images The Pittsburgh Steelers are searching for their next offensive coordinator. This would be the latest offensive play caller in the Mike Tomlin era, joining the likes of Bruce Arians, Todd Haley and Randy Fichtner. Just days ago it seemed as if the Steelers had their guy. On the same day it was being reported Matt Canada was heading down to Miami to interview for the Dolphins’ coordinator opening, reports circulated how the Steelers were planning on making Canada their next coordinator. Obviously confused, the fan base wondered who else was interviewed, or yet to be interviewed, for the opening. After all, the Steelers would have to comply with the Rooney Rule, even for a coordinator position.

Jan 21, 2021 PITTSBURGH After initial reports the Pittsburgh Steelers have promoted quarterbacks coach Matt Canada to offensive coordinator, the team has been quiet and has yet to announce they ve made a decision.  Now, ESPN s Dianna Russini has reported that the Steelers interviewed former Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson for their OC position earlier in the week.  Jackson, who spent 2016-2018 with the Browns, has been away from football since being fired by Cleveland halfway through the 2018 season. Appearing to be eyeing a return to the game, he looks to be an option for his former foe.  Jackson s time with the Browns isn t one to be remembered. In two and a half seasons, the head coach went 3-36-1, including the Browns 0-16 season in 2017.

Reports are Steelers met with Hue Jackson for offensive coordinator job

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports The Pittsburgh Steelers were thought to have their man for the vacant offensive coordinator job. That man was Matt Canada, who served as the team’s quarterbacks coach in 2020. Shortly after those reports circulated, other reports stated fans should pump the brakes before wishing Canada congratulations on the promotion. Instead, it seemed as if the Steelers still had other candidates to interview, not only to abide by the league’s Rooney Rule, but also to ensure they are finding the man they feel is right for the job. The latest names attached to the vacant coordinator role was none other than former Cincinnati Bengals coordinator and Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson.
