While I disliked the super league proposal, it did get me thinking, what would an actual Good European Super League (GESL) on top of the football pyramid look like. I m sure there have been proposals tossed around before so maybe this is unoriginal, but here s a thought.
At steady state, this is what I m envisioning:
14 team league (26 league games - fewer than current domestic leagues, but probably for the best given increased travel - and plenty more good games for TV)
5 automatic promotion spots for the winners of the EPL, Bundesliga, Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1 to replace the bottom 5 teams of the GESL
