Samsung records a new breakthrough in 5G speed: a single device hit 5.23Gbps
Samsung’s official website announced yesterday that the company has made new breakthroughs in 5G data speed using E-UTRAN New Radio Dual Connectivity (EN-DC) technology. EN-DC technology allows mobile operators to use 4G networks to increase 5G speed and coverage. The press release shows that in a demonstration conducted by the Samsung Laboratory in South Korea, the company successfully combined 40MHz of 4G spectrum and 800MHz of 5G millimeter wave spectrum so that the data rate of a single terminal device hit 5.23Gbps.
In the demonstration, Samsung used its commercial end-to-end solutions including terminal equipment and network products. These include Samsung Galaxy S20 smartphones, 4G base stations, 5G base stations, and 4G/5G universal core networks.
