Birmingham, June 27 : England all-rounder Ben Stokes showed he is making rapid progress as he gears up for the ODI series against Pakistan and the five-Test series against Indian in August September, when he took four wickets for 27 runs and played a fine cameo to inspire Durham s 34-run victory over Birmingham Bears in the Vitality Blast T20 tournament.
Stokes was declared Player of the Match on Saturday.
The 30-year-old Stokes had to pull out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) before its suspension after a fracture to his left index finger. He underwent a surgery for it.

Alvin Kallicharran was one of the pivots of the West Indian batting line-up through the 1970s.
In an international career from 1971-72 to 1980-81, the diminutive Guyanese left-hander scored 4399 runs at 44.43 in 66 Tests, besides 826 runs at 34.41 in 31 ODIs. He also enjoyed a distinguished domestic career, with most of his first-class and List A matches coming for Guyana at home and Warwickshire on the county circuit.
The 1984 season was Kallicharran’s 14th in succession for Warwickshire (he would go on to represent the county until 1990). Although he was out of favour for the West Indies, he kept performing well in domestic cricket. He also played for Transvaal in South Africa from 1981-82 to 1983-84. A particularly impressive county season in 1982 earned him the honour of being named as one of the
Wickets drought for Joseph
Article by May 6, 2021
LONDON – Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph was thrifty but lacked penetration as Warwickshire kept Worcestershire in the field for the entirety of day one of their County Championship clash on Thursday.
Sent in at Edgbaston, the hosts reached 271 for seven with 21-year-old opener Robert Yates top-scoring with 104 and wicketkeeper Michael Burgess weighing in with 65 not out.
Joseph, in his third match for the club, went wicketless from 18 overs which cost only 49 runs.
“If we are honest, we were poor in the first session,”said Worcestershire captain Joe Leach, who snared two for 51.
“There was a little bit of help in the wicket but we just didn’t capitalise on it.”
