Markussen joins La Crosse common council president Martin Gaul, council members Jessica Olson, businessman Chris Stolpa, former radio host Mitch Reynolds and 18-year-old Sam Schneider.
Current Mayor Tim Kabat announced at the start of the month that he would not seek a third term.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) The list of candidates running to be La Crosse’s next mayor is still growing. Two more candidates officially announced they are running today.
Sam Schneider, kicked off his campaign in front of city hall. Schneider owns and runs a home and office cleaning service. He’s 18 years old.
“When you talk about lack of experience, it all has to do with perspective. I think that the idea is, we want fresh perspective. I don’t come to this issue thinking that I know everything, and I know that I don’t,” said Sam Schneider.
Another candidate, Vicki Markussen also announce her candidacy today. Markussen is the former CEO of the La Crosse Area Chamber of Commerce.
