(BEDFORD) – Bedford Mayor Sam Craig asked city council members to consider giving city employees a stipend.
Mayor Craig was advised by several department heads that employees were asking about whether they could receive a stipend like Lawrence County employees were given.
Mayor Craig told council members that each city does everything different based on how they would administer a stipend and various dollar amounts given to those employees.
The city cannot give out any stipends until the first of the year because it would require a public notice.
City of Bedford employees a total of 160 full-time employees and 7 part-time employees.

A public nuisance animal shall mean and include the following that:
Is repeatedly found at large
Damages property of anyone other than the owner
A declared a potentially dangerous or dangerous animal
Attacks without provocation
Excessively makes disturbing noises, including but not limited to, continued repeated howling, barking, whining, or other utterances causing unreasonable disturbance or discomfort to neighbors or others in close proximity to the premises where the animal is kept.
Creates unsanitary conditions or offensive and objectionable odors in enclosures or surroundings and thereby creates an unreasonable disturbance to neighbors or others in close proximity to the premises where the animal is kept;

(BEDFORD) – Myra Shipman’s last board meeting for the Bedford Housing Authority was Thursday afternoon. Shipman has served on the board for more than 8 years.

(BEDFORD) – The Milwaukee Depot is ready for Santa’s appearance Friday and Saturday. Although, the annual visit with Santa at Otis Park this year was cancelled, Bedford Mayor Sam Craig and the Bedford Parks Department were determined to find a way to spread the holiday spirit and christmas cheer.
Thanks to the efforts of Bedford City employees, this event should help celebrate the holiday and bring smiles to the children of Lawrence County..
Thursday morning city employees could be seen working feverishly to get things in place for the weekend event.
“We welcome everyone to drive by so Santa can wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Due to the current pandemic. Santa has requested that there will be no walk-up contact with him so that he can stay healthy for Christmas,” said Mayor Sam Craig.
