R.I. Senior Softball League seeks players for upcoming season
PROVIDENCE The Rhode Island Senior Softball League, who has over 350 players on 20 teams, is currently seeking players ages 60 and over for the upcoming season.
The season will run from May 2 through Sept. 26, including playoffs, and no games will be scheduled on July 4.
The state s Phase 3 guidelines will continue to be followed. Masks and/or pitcher s screen will be mandatory, and the league will use the same 11 fields as it did last season.
Vineland School Employee, Father Die of Covid Two Days Apart
Covid-19 has caused a great loss in one Vineland family, after a daughter and her father died of the virus within two days of one another.
Sheree Coccaro, 62, a security guard at Thomas Wallace Middle School in Vineland, died from coronavirus on Friday at Inspira Medical Center.

According to the Vineland Daily Journal, her father, Charles J. Scarpa Jr., a retired electrician and Vineland volunteer firefighter, died of the virus on Sunday.
Her obituary says Sheree Coccara worked with the Vineland Board of education for 26 years at various schools as a security officer, most recently at the Wallace School.
Richard ‘Coach,’ ‘Steppy’ Stepanian
CALABASH In loving memory of Richard Stepanian, 80, also known as “Coach” and “Steppy” to many, who passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, after a three-week battle from complications due to COVID-19.
He was recently living in Calabash, where he retired. He was formerly of Denville, New Jersey, and Bergenfield, New Jersey. Rich was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, teacher, coach, mentor, pitcher and a whole lot more to so many people.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eloise; and son, John.
Rich is survived by his wife, Beverly Stepanian; sister, Roseanne Saxenian; sons, Richard D. Stepanian and Robert Stepanian (Patty); daughter, Laura Stepanian; grandchildren, Heather, Kyle, Jason, Richie, Alexis, Thomas, Ethan and Emilee; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pirates Charities partners with the Tull Family Foundation to impact over 2,300 youth

Pirates Charities, the philanthropic arm of the Pittsburgh Pirates, in partnership with the Tull Family Foundation, Thomas and Alba Tull’s family foundation, today announced the 2020 recipients of the “Fields for Kids” matching grant program. In total, nine individual grants were distributed to organizations that operate youth baseball and softball programs in three states Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. The grants help support these organizations to ensure they continue to thrive and provide safe places for youth baseball and softball teams to play.
