Basilan-Davao Occidental rubber match postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests

The Basilan Steel undergo quarantine anew after two of their players tested positive for the coronavirus, a development that has put their campaign in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) in jeopardy.
Dragged to a do-or-die match in the Southern Division finals, the Steel were slated to face the Davao Occidental Tigers at 8 pm on Wednesday, March 10 but the MPBL postponed the game to March 17 due to the positive tests.
The two players have already left the MPBL bubble in Subic, while the entire Basilan crew undergoes quarantine.

THE scheduled rubber match in the South Division finals of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Lakan Season on Wednesday did not push through in accordance with the league’s health and safety protocols.
The win-or-go home game between Basilan Steel and the Davao Occidental Tigers was forced to be canceled as the entire Steel delegation was put under seven-day quarantine after being classified as persons under investigation with one of its players testing positive for the coronavirus.
The player, who was not identified by the league, had already been isolated while the rest of the team were put under quarantine as per protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

SAN Juan advanced to the finals of the MPBL Lakan Season in the most anticlimactic fashion, trouncing controversy-riddled Makati Super Crunch, 131-54, on Wednesday in the league s return to play at the Subic Convention Center.
The Knights, as expected, dominated the depleted Super Crunch from the get-go to capture the most lopsided victory in the history of the league in the knockout match for the North Division title that was finally resumed after a year following the postponement of the league due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shorthanded Makati faces San Juan as MPBL playoffs resume

THE Makati Super Crunch are maintaining a positive attitude heading into the resumption of the MPBL Lakan Season North Division finals despite a controversy that hounded the ballclub over the past few days.
Makati will be playing the third and final game of the division finals on Wednesday without their pre-pandemic core players due to salary disputes.
