Afrontar la pandemia en soledad es la única opción para evitar que el virus se propague al interior de las cárceles de Cochabamba. Hace un tiempo, muchos privados de libertad no ven a sus familias, solo reciben encomiendas de ellos.
Esta estrategia ha dado resultados. Régimen Penitenciario solo registró dos fallecimientos de privados de libertad con coronavirus desde el brote de la enfermedad y un 20% de contagios, pero asintomáticos. Solo un 5% se infectó y presentó síntomas.
No obstante, el objetivo es que a la brevedad posible los reencuentros entre los reos y sus parientes se restablezcan.
