Monsoonal moisture made its way to our area Wednesday. This brought some very light sprinkles, that produced trace amounts of precipitation in a few cities. Despite the surprise showers it did warm up as expected. Santa Barbara hit 86 degrees today. As we head toward the weekend, a warming trend will establish as onshore flow weakens, pushing warmer valley locations into the lower triple digits.
Weekend warm-up on the way
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - We re looking at a comfortable evening Thursday with lows falling into the 50s and low clouds and fog developing overnight. Winds will stay calm to breezy, with some stronger gusts along Western parts of the Santa Barbara South Coast.
On Friday we begin to see a pattern change with our gradual cooling trend coming to an end. Strong high pressure is building over the Pacific Northwest which will bring warmer temperatures to the Central Coast this weekend. Inland areas will feel noticeably warmer on Friday, with highs jumping up to 10 degrees. Onshore flow and morning marine layer will keep the coast s warm-up more moderate on Friday.
Saturday Evening Forecast May 22nd
Late season storm system continues to spin just to our north and east. A very slight chance for sprinkles remains for areas just to the east of us. Breezy winds shouldn t increase to advisory levels, but could be locally gusty. Overnight lows will be in the cool lower 50 s for most areas. Sunday will see a mix of coastal fog and sunshine. Afternoon highs will likely bump upward just a bit with temperatures expected to be in the 60 s and 70 s. A chance for more northerly winds could come in to play for portions of the Santa Barbara South Coast. We will monitor closely and let you know immediately if we see another Wind Advisory event by Sunday evening.
