They say there’s no shortcut to success. And we completely agree. When it comes to achieving any goal – be it in school or the office, sheer hard work, determination, and willpower will get you going. However, hard work also comes from applying the right tools.
For instance, if you use a screwdriver to open a bolt, it won’t get you anywhere no matter how much you work hard. Sadly, our education system has been teaching science to students in a similar fashion.

SINGAPORE: The Ministry of Education (MOE) released on Tuesday (Apr 27) the indicative Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) score ranges for individual secondary schools, with the roll-out of the new scoring system this year.
From 2021, Primary 6 students taking the exam will receive Achievement Levels of 1 to 8 for each of their four subjects, with their overall score the sum of these achievement levels.
SINGAPORE - Primary 6 pupils will not need to achieve perfect scores to get into top secondary schools when the new PSLE scoring system takes effect this year, based on entry scores for 139 secondary schools released on Tuesday (April 27) by the Education Ministry.
The indicative cut-off scores are based on the new Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) scoring system, which will be used for the first time by this year s Primary 6 cohort to gain entry into secondary schools next year.
Under the new scoring system, first announced in 2016, each standard-level PSLE subject will be scored using eight bands known as Achievement Levels (AL). Each pupil will be given AL scores from 1 to 8 for each subject, instead of grades like A to E.
