A convicted sex offender is wanted after cutting his ankle monitor and fleeing a halfway house in far East El Paso County.
Santos Salas, 51, removed his ankle monitor and absconded Monday from the El Paso Transitional Living Center at 1650 Horizon Blvd. near Horizon City, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office officials said.
Salas is now wanted on a parole violation with an additional charge of failure of a sex offender’s duty to register pending, officials said.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Sex Offender Registry, Salas primarily goes by Santo Salas Padilla.
Salas was convicted of sexual assault of a child in 1991. The victim was a 13-year-old girl.
