Women’s Africa Cup of Nations : Morocco To Host 2022 Edition
Morocco will host the 2022 edition of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations. This is one of the major decisions of the CAF Executive Committee meeting that took place in Yaounde on Friday, January 15, 2021. The news came as a sigh of relief to the different countries after the 2020 edition was cancelled last year. The meeting was led by the Interim President of CAF, Constant Omari. Present at the meeting was the President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, who was a special guest for the Total African Nations Championship (CHAN Cameroon 2020). With COVID-19 influencing several withdrawals by teams from various competitions, the Executive Committee has decided to grant amnesty to all such cases of withdrawals effective March 2020 till date
Modification of the minimum number of players allowed to start a match due to COVID-19 in order to allow teams to play with less than 15 players during this period. If a team has 11 players to play a game, the match will go on. In case there is no goalkeeper, another player can replace the goalkeeper on condition that the total number of players on the pitch is 11.
