The RI Public Expenditure Council has released its latest report making policy recommendations regard charter schools. The Rhode Island General Assembly is considering legislation this year to place a moratorium on the expansion of public charter school seats now, the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council (RIPEC) is on record calling for just such an expansion, citing the high-performance of public charters.  This week, RIPEC released “An Analysis of Charter Public Schools in Rhode Island,” a look at the key issues surrounding charter public schools in the state which includes a number of policy recommendations to lawmakers.  According to RIPEC, based on standardized testing, on whole, charter public school students outperform their sending districts.
