GRANADA HILLS, Calif., April 29, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Granada Hills Charter (GHC) has been named a 2021 California Distinguished School based on its outstanding student outcomes, including high-level performances in English Language Arts and math and its excellent graduation rate and the preparedness of students to succeed in college. Although the past year has been a difficult one, our teachers and staff have maintained a focus on providing our students the highest-quality education, one that challenges and inspires them, said Brian Bauer, GHC s Executive Director. We are fortunate to have educators who are creative and innovative, and a support structure to foster them as we all work towards one purpose: serving our students and preparing them for success in their lives.
Nine of the top schools in North Carolina are, technically, schools of choice, according to recently released rankings of the best schools in the country. These include magnet and charter schools, institutions in which parents and students choose and apply for admission.
The annual U.S. News rankings include data on nearly 24,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia, U.S. News says on its website.
The Early College at Guilford in Greensboro ranked first in the state and 20th in the country. Raleigh Charter High School was second in North Carolina, and 100th in the country. STEM Early College at N.C. A&T was ranked third, and 103rd in the country. Woods Charter in Chatham County was fourth in North Carolina, and Phillip J. Weaver Ed Center in Greensboro, a magnet school, was fifth. East Chapel Hill High, the lone traditional public school in the top 10, was tenth in North Carolina and 352nd nationally.
Middletown senior wins $5K National Honor Society scholarship

The National Honor Society announced that Divita Taduvayi, a senior at MOT Charter High School from Middletown, has been selected as a finalist and winner of a $5,625 NHS Scholarship.
Taduvayi was chosen from nearly 10,000 applicants.
The NHS Scholarship program is supported by NHS’s parent organization, the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
Taduvayi helped develop Feeding the Ville, a marketplace-style app for food insecurity alleviation, as part of the Food in Neighborhoods Coalition in Kentucky. She is currently the national Technology Director for Girls Go Digital, a student-led nonprofit for young women in STEM, in which she expanded the organization’s reach by redesigning their website, increasing their social media presence and using SEO to improve the site’s visibility. Inspired by her desire to address the STEM gender gap in Delaware, Taduvayi founded Girls
