Alleged Kidnapper of Missing Malaysian Pastor Acquitted
02/27/2021 Malaysia (International Christian Concern) – A former Uber driver who was accused of abducting Malaysian pastor Raymond Koh, has been acquitted of the charge on February 8 and was freed by the Magistrate’s Court today.
Lam Chang Nam, 31, now only has one other charge against him: he allegedly blackmailed Koh’s son, Jonathan, for RM30,000 in 2017. A decision on this will be delivered by the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court on April 30.
According to Free Malaysia Today, Lam’s lawyer, Aaron Mark Pius, said,
“The prosecution told the court they do not wish to proceed with the Section 365 [kidnapping] charge, although they have already called nine witnesses.”

Former Uber driver Lam Chang Nam has been acquitted of the kidnapping of Pastor Raymond Koh four years ago.
The accused now only has one charge against him, which is an extortion charge linked to Koh’s disappearance in 2017. The Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court will deliver its decision on this on April 30.
Lam’s counsel Aaron Mark Pius told
Malaysiakini today that the lower court allowed their application to acquit the accused on Feb 8 during open court.

Catholics and Protestants in Malaysia are praying for victims of enforced disappearances as they remember a Christian pastor who went missing four years ago.
The prayers of solidarity on the weekends on Feb. 6-7 and Feb. 13-14 are in response to a call from the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM), the interdenominational Christian forum in the Muslim-majority country.
