R andy Stewart and his son, Austin, had a brain storm one day. They are patriotic people and, wishing they had a flag pole for an American Flag (the 4th of July was coming up), they did the next best thing. They painted the American flag on their barn roof. Yep. They didn’t realize how much work it was going to be, but once they got started, it was hard to quit. They went to work with scaffolding, and ladders, and chalk-lines, and paint brushes, and cans of spray paint. The result is an eye catching, 12′ x 32′ American flag on their barn roof, which faces the road at 1406 310th St., Salem, Iowa. It’s known as Stewart Acres.

A new cafe in the heart of Hershey is playing off the town’s sweet history.
Cafe aMusee opened this week at The Hershey Story at 63 W. Chocolate Ave. with dessert pizzas, hot chocolate bombs and syringes filled with warm chocolate ganache.
“We’re in Hershey. This is a town founded on milk chocolate and Milton Hershey,” said Angela Megoulas, Café aMusée co-owner.
The cafe slides into the former Pantry Cafe and is designed to appeal to tourists and local residents. Megoulas and partner Irene Gekas, who also operate Gourmet Grille and Gyro.GRK at Hersheypark, envision a community atmosphere with outdoor dining, catering and pop-up events.
