106. For anyone hoping to enroll in the same course at Oxnard College, look for Math R115. At Cuyamaca College, try Math 175. And at College of the Sequoias, it’s Math 035.
On and on across California’s public community colleges, courses that basically cover the same material and are recognized as being interchangeable in fulfilling requirements for majors and transfers are assigned different course numbers. That process confuses community college students trying to transfer to a four-year university, critics say. Students may not know whether they are taking the right courses and may inadvertently repeat some if they take classes at more than one community college, either in person or online.

Without a second opinion, Dusty Baker might never have been the star athlete who morphed into one of baseball’s winningest managers. As a teenager in 1966, a benign heart murmur was misdiagnosed as a significantly more serious condition. He was told to quit all strenuous activities particularly football, which he loved. “They told me I’d never play sports again. I was 16,” Baker says, sitting in the empty tasting room closed due to the pandemic of his West Sacramento winery, Baker Family Wines, in early January. Nathan Streeter was many things to many people.
He was the chosen child of Steve and Nancy Streeter, who adopted him the year after his birth.
He was a graduate of Davis High School (Class of 2008) who became a filmmaker and a member of the county transportation district’s citizens advisory committee.
He was also an extrovert in an introvert’s body, his mother says, making friends everywhere he went despite being unable to communicate verbally thanks to a brain injury suffered in utero.
