Projects Worth Rs 85,576 crore Sanctioned Under Sagarmala To Benefit North Andhra Region Mar 09, 2021, 14:02 IST
NEW DELHI: Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Mansukh L Mandaviya stated that North Andhra region in Andhra Pradesh has the lion s share of the ambitious Sagarmala project launched by the Central Government. The Minister on Monday while replying to a question by YSRCP parliamentary party leader V Vijayasai Reddy said that 40 of the total projects have reached the Northern Andhra districts, including Visakhapatnam. Mandaviya said 92 projects under the Sagarmala projects were sanctioned at a cost of Rs 85,576 crore.
He said works on 29 projects worth Rs 51,000 crore was underway and 35 projects worth Rs 8,945 crore were in various stages of completion.
Visakhapatnam gets the lion’s share of the funds
Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways (independent charge) Mansukh L. Mandaviya has said that as many as 92 projects have been sanctioned to Andhra Pradesh under the Sagarmala project at a cost of ₹85,576 crore.
Some of these projects have been completed, some are under implementation and others under consideration, said Mr. Mandaviya while replying to an unstarred question posed by Rajya Sabha member V. Vijaya Sai Reddy on Monday.
Giving the breakup, Mr. Mandaviya noted that 22 projects with the theme of port modernisation were initiated at an estimated cost of ₹4,717 crore, 54 projects were undertaken at a cost of ₹47,854 crore under the connectivity enhancement head, 10 projects at a cost of ₹32,053 core as part of port-led industrialisation and nine projects with the theme of coastal community development were initiated at a cost of ₹952 crore.

Speaking at the Maritime India Summit, he invited global investors to invest in Indian ports, shipyards and waterways. He said that more than 574 projects costing USD 82 billion or Rs 6 lakh crore have been identified for implementation between 2015 and 2035 under the Sagarmala Project.
