An early evening thunderstorm Thursday dumped more than an inch of rain on downtown Salida and caused mud and water to wash across county roads south of the city.
While the storm dropped 1.11 inches of rain downtown, 1.71 inches was reported by residents at homes along CRs 110 and 111.
Friday evening Chaffee County Dispatch issued a reverse 911 call warning residents along 107, 108, 110 and 111 and nearby county roads of flooding.
County road crews were called out at about 9 p.m. and worked until about 2 a.m. Friday to clear rocks, logs, stumps and other debris to make roads passable.
Crews were out early Friday morning to start the cleanup and repair process.

The 22-year-old Eaton man was last seen Feb. 22, according to family members.
His car, a black 1999 Toyota Rav4, was found in Salida March 2, parked on F street between 13th and 14th streets.
Johnson said the car was removed by law enforcement and has been processed, but no clues or evidence was discovered.
Samples of family membersâ DNA has been collected for comparison if needed.
Schwartz is described as blond with blue eyes, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds.
The family has offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to his location and safe return.
