Ashikur Rahman Rohit, an activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in Chattogram, was stabbed to death over the brick-sand trade and not elections, said police. The dispute over Chattogram City Corporation election was not behind the murder of Rohit. The killing happened over the area-based club and to control the brick-sand trade, said SM Mehedi Hasan, deputy commissioner (south) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), in a press briefing at his office today.
Police made the findings during the primary interrogation of two arrestees and further investigation, our Chattaogram correspondent reports, quoting the deputy police commissioner.
