CON Healy, who contributed that wonderful story about helping to remove Fred Bridgeman’s organ from the Savoy to Kilbrittain Castle in last week’s Throwback Thursday, was delighted to see the great picture we managed to unearth from the archives, showing the mammoth task being undertaken
Mr Healy was even able to identify some of the people in the photograph.

A boarded up warehouse in Lenton has been knocked down to make way for a new student flats complex.

Ayu was screened in celebration of the 74th anniversary of Sri Lankan cinema at Savoy Cinema, Wellawatta, on January 22. It is the maiden movie production of General (retired) Daya Rathnayake and the second film directed by Chathra Weeraman after Aloko Udapadi.
After dedicating a moment of silence to remember all those deceased in the field of local cinema, including Sinhala, Tamil, Malay and Muslim directors, producers, actors, actresses, technical and non-technical contributors to the Sri Lankan film industry, a special award of appreciation was presented to the ‘Queen of Sri Lankan Cinema’ Dr. Malani Fonseka for her 155th acting contribution in her illustrious career of over five decades. Student’s Disappointed As Lenton Hopper Bus Service Suspended

Nottingham Students have been left disappointed after the abrupt discontinuation of the extended hopper bus service through Lenton.
The new 903 service no longer travelled through Jubilee campus and instead travelled along Derby Road stopping at Faraday Road, Savoy Cinema, Canning Circus, as well as Wollaton Street.

The changes were well received by students and University staff alike with Dr Paul Greatrix, Registrar at the University of Nottingham, told My Nottingham News that the new service would help the “health, safety and wellbeing of our University community”.
