Boxing legend Barry McGuigan has said he ‘aches’ every day in a heart-wrenching interview about the death of his daughter.
Actress Danika ‘Nika’ McGuigan, who had suffered with leukaemia as a child, died at just 33 after a short battle with cancer in 2019.
Speaking on The Late Late Show on RTE on Friday night an emotional Barry bared his soul about the death of his child.
The former boxer, known as the Clones Cyclone, recalled being given the heartbreaking diagnosis by doctors and trying to give hope to his terminally ill daughter who defied the odds in the past.
He said: “She felt something wasn’t right with her and felt a bit unwell. She went and had a number of checks.

Danika passed away in July 2019 aged just 33 after a battle with cancer returned, having previously been diagnosed with leukemia as a child.

Danika worked as an actress and appeared in several television, film and theatre productions including the blockbuster series Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope.
She died surrounded by her family, after going to see the doctor when she didn’t feel right in 2019 - even though blood tests came back clear.
