Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman has acknowledged Pakistan’s role towards regional peace and stability, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
According to the ISPR, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, Crown Prince and 1st Deputy Prime Minster, Defence Minister and Prince Khalid Bin Salman, Deputy Defence Minister, at Jeddah. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation including recent developments in Afghan peace process, bilateral defence and security collaboration for regional peace and connectivity were discussed.
The COAS said that Pakistan is resolute in its commitment to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of KSA and defence of the Two Holy Mosques. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa called on Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Deputy Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman in Jeddah, the military s media affairs wing said on Friday.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said matters of mutual interest, the regional security situation including developments in the Afghan peace process, bilateral defence, security, collaborating for regional peace and security were discussed during the meeting.
The COAS said Pakistan is resolute in its commitment to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia and defence of the two Holy Mosques, the ISPR statement said.
Amid a serious regional churn, Islamabad may not be ready to jettison its long-time ally just yet.

On May 4, Pakistan’s Army Chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa arrived in Saudi Arabia on a four-day official visit. Bajwa has met the country’s senior military leadership and is also expected to meet the Saudi crown prince, Mohammad Bin Salman, once Prime Minister Imran Khan reaches Saudi Arabia on May 7.
A number of other Pakistani senior civilian and military leaders have also arrived in Saudi Arabia ahead of Khan’s arrival. There are several reasons why Pakistan’s senior military and civilian leadership have quietly reached out to Saudi Arabia.
