Fire Information Offier Jessica Mack says the controlled burn is being done with a helicopter and some hand ignition.
“The goal of this is just to remove any available fuel between the fire’s edge and the fuel free guard that was built by heavy equipment. This will allow us to slow down and help limit any spread of the wildfire by decreasing the amount of fire perimeter that we have to manage.”
Mack says in preparation for this operation ground personnel were able to lay hose all around the fire to ensure that there is water available to extinguish any smoke or flames.

Redding Police Department looking for suspected shooter in deadly apartment shooting
Last Friday night, someone shot a man at the West Hacienda Apartments on Churn Creek Road. Police said the victim managed to make it to his apartment and called for help.

REDDING, Calif. - The Redding Police Department is still searching for a killer.
Police tell Action News Now the victim of the shooting is a 35-year-old man. Police have not yet released the identity of the victim.
Last Friday night, someone shot a man at the West Hacienda Apartments on Churn Creek Road. Police said the victim managed to make it to his apartment and called for help.

Fire North Of Clinton Has Been Called Out

The fire that was 5 kilometers north of Clinton was just called out earlier this (April 27) afternoon by the Cariboo Fire Centre.
Fire Information Officer Jessica Mack said crews are departing that area and has this update on the fire near Churn Creek.
“The size remains at 64 hectares and that has not changed since when it initially started. We do have 27 BC Wildfire Service personnel that remain on-site and they’re continuing to patrol the wildfire. The status of that incident is under control.”
The wildfire near Forest Grove is 25 hectares in size.” Mack said, “We do not have any crews that are on the fire today (April 27) but we have set up sprinklers along the existing control lines, which is the perimeter of the fire, to ensure that there’s no further spread
