Constantine Village Council has set a meeting to finalize the budget

By Angie Birdsall Special to the Journal Constantine Village Council has set a special meeting to finalize the 2021-22 village budget, for 7 p.m. March 29. It includes a public hearing at 7:03 p.m to hear comments regarding the budget.  Village manager Mark Honeysett presented the council with details about the budget at the March 15 meeting. The taxable value increased from about  $38 million to $40.1 million. The rise came from increased property value assessment and new construction at Corteva (formerly Pioneer Hi-Bred International) and Fawn River Cultivation Company on Industrial Drive. The general fund revenue was increased significantly by the medical and recreational marijuana permit fees of $5,000 annually, Honeysett said.

The affidavit alleges retaliation following the loss of a sale deal to Life and Purpose Behavioral Health for the former school site in 2020. According to Municipal Judge Janet Dyar Welch’s order entry dated Wednesday and timestamped 9:36 a.m. by her clerk, the municipal court has accepted the citizen complaint for criminal charges “for probable cause review for a summons.”

Wilson | Wikipedia HARRISBURG – A federal judge has rejected the attempt of the Borough of Middletown to dismiss a lawsuit filed against it by a local Chinese restaurant owner, which asserted that the Borough sought to prevent the plaintiff from opening and conducting daily business operations. The suit was first filed by HE Group, Inc. on Jan. 24, 2020 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against the Borough and its Codes and Zoning Officer Al Geosits, alleging the owner was denied equal treatment when told to comply with arbitrary zoning enforcement, related in part to off-street parking, and summarily issued fines.

Jeff Gilliland | The Times-Gazette FRS Transportation hopes to have public transit routes back up and running in May, representatives said at Monday’s Hillsboro City Council meeting. Damon Lucas, FRS Transportation director, said public transportation routes originated last March, but lasted just three weeks before they were shut down by COVID-19. When the routes are re-established, Lucas said there will be two loops around Hillsboro running in opposite directions, Monday through Friday to begin with, and one loop in Greenfield. In Hillsboro, he said, there will be 21 stops starting at the Highland County Senior Citizen Center on Muntz Street.
