Homicide detectives have been called in after human remains were found early Friday morning in Surrey.
Surrey RCMP say they received a call at 4 a.m. from the Surrey Fire Department concerning a fire and human remains found in a ditch in the area of 48th Avenue and 168 Street.

His therapist told him something he would never forget.
“She said, ‘Steve you’re not broken. You are wounded. You’ve got to get it repaired and go for therapy for your injury.’ She compared my post-traumatic stress to a broken leg that can be fixed, and that really made me feel better,” said Serbic.
Serbic, who grew up in Burnaby and East Vancouver, began writing a book about his life and his years working on the front lines.
The assistant fire chief never thought he would publish it because he wrote it as part of his therapy, but the COVID-19 pandemic made him realize how important it is to end the stigma around mental health illness.
