The library has collection of 2.65 lakh books and reading material Vadodara: Prof Prateek Ashwin Shah, a visually-impaired teacher at Sojitra college, so far used to rely on limited literature that was available in Braille language for his PhD studies. But now, Shah who is pursuing doctoral studies in the Department of Postgraduate Business Studies, has started using a special facility that helps him not only listen to books written in any language but also translate these using the internet all thanks to Bhaikaka Library of Vallabh Vidyanagar. The Sardar Patel University (SPU) installed a cusers of this library. The special facility of a screen scanner – Kibo – has been made available for the disabled students at the library, the largest facility in the education hub of Charotar region of Central Gujarat.

But minutes after his friend started answering questions, he was immediately identified. Another student who thought a prompter sitting beside him will help in crack the online exams too failed miserably. Nearly 500 such copycats have been caught adopting unfair means while appearing in online exams of various undergraduate and postgraduate courses of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) that began on June 26. These students were simply not aware that their images are being clicked, videos being recorded by the devices which they thought would give them a lot of leeway to cheat. Based on this suspicious conduct, VNSGU has registered cases against these students which are being reviewed by a fact-finding panel.

VADODARA/ ANAND: An indigenously developed electromagnetic device is coming to the rescue of animals that require physiotherapy treatment. The device developed by Vallabh Vidyanagar-based researcher Shreelal Jha and his sons Harshavardhan and Sarth is being used at the veterinary college of Anand Agricultural University (AAU) for providing drugless therapy to animals. “We have used this physiotherapy instrument for treatment of wound, fracture, paraplegia and in pain management. We found this modality is very useful in treatment of veterinary patients,” said Dr P V Parikh, professor and head of Department of Surgery and Radiology at AAU’s veterinary college.
