CANCER facilities at the Royal Bolton Hospital are set to be upgraded after the trust received a significant financial donation. Bolton NHS Foundation Trust has received £35,000 from CANtreat, a Warrington-based charity whose mission is to improve the quality of the treatment environment for all NHS cancer patients. This will go to improve the Churchill Unit at the hospital which provides consultations and treatments to patients diagnosed with breast, bowel, urology and haematology cancers in a friendly unit. Patients can then access chemotherapy and receive support following a diagnosis of cancer. CANtreat first partnered with Bolton NHS Foundation Trust in 2007, resulting in the refurbishment of the waiting area, the quiet room extension and landscaping of the gardens at the Churchill Unit.
