Plight of deprived kids highlighted July 19, 2021 LAHORE : A ceremony was held here on Sunday to commemorate Gypsy Day 2021 where plight of deprived children was particularly highlighted. The event was attended by Regional Director, Human Rights, Lubna Mansoor, DG, PILAC, Sughra Sadaf, representatives of welfare societies and other persons concerned. Various stalls were set up by children belonging to deprived sections of society, especially the children living in slums and streets. Masterpieces made by the gypsy children were presented to promote Pakistani culture. Children living in slums also presented various sketches and songs. Addressing the ceremony, Punjab Minister Ijaz Alam appreciated the efforts of the institutions concerned in organising the unique event and said it was a commendable initiative to organise such a wonderful programme for deprived children in which they provided full opportunity to show their skills. Top Story March 15, 2021 LAHORE: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has said the culture of Punjab is rich in traditions and famous all over the world as it is deeply rooted in history. He was speaking as chief guest of a special ceremony held here at CM Office Sunday in connection with Punjab Culture Day. Participants of the ceremony were wearing traditional Punjabi turbans. Provincial Culture Minister Khayal Ahmed Kastro presented Punjab’s traditional turban to the chief minister. Buzdar gave traditional turbans to Khayal Ahmed Kastro and PM’s Adviser Barrister Shahzad Akbar. Addressing the participants, the chief minister said Punjabis have their own unique identity everywhere they live in the world. Celebrating and remembering culture and traditions is a sign of the nations which took pride in their history as cultural festivals reflect the identity and individuality of each region, he added.
