A season to remember our connectedness February 19, 2021, 10:52 PM IST
An eclectic mind in a peripatetic body!
Saraswati Puja went by last week, in a blaze of the shades of Basant Panchami, heralding the advent of our brief but beautiful Indian spring. It’s the only time of year that I dare to wear yellow, or any shade thereof because, somehow, the idea of not wearing it is out of the question. I still exhort yellow-shy friends to wear even a yellow t-shirt or dupatta. The true power of social conditioning becomes evident at times like these!
There is something delightfully simple, organic and primeval about wearing colours to reflect the seasons, signalling our connectedness to the circadian rhythms of our surroundings. Even if yellow clothes on Basant are no longer dyed with natural substances such as turmeric, wearing them are at least a nod to the changing of the climate an awareness that would stand the planet and us in good stead

Vaccination of healthcare and frontline staff should not be a reason for the rest of the population to feel complacent about Covid. Doctors on West Bengal Covid panel advise citizens to follow protocols  |  Photo Credit: PTI
Kolkata: Senior doctors on the state’s Covid panel have requested the people to keep following rules because Covid is still active even though the number of cases is falling.
Vaccination of healthcare and frontline staff should not be a reason for the rest of the population to feel complacent about Covid, according to doctors. Ajay Krishna Sarkar, pulmonologist at Peerless Hospital told The Telegraph, “We have not eradicated Covid and it is still a long way for everyone to get vaccinated. So there is no alternative to adhering to the Covid protocols because we are still admitting patients who have tested positive.”
