Continuing education scholarships available | News, Sports, Jobs - Adirondack Daily Enterprise

To the editor: It’s not too late! There’s still time to apply! The Women’s College Scholarship Club is giving four Continuing Education Scholarships of $1,000 each to students wishing to change or enhance their careers. Applicants must be from Franklin or Essex County and returning to school after a break of at least one year. The deadline is Friday, May 14. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. Part-time students may apply. You can receive an application by emailing Continuing Education Committee Chair Ginny Bartlett at ginnybillbart@netscape.net. Applications are also available at the Financial Aid Office at North Country Community College, the Financial Aid Office at Paul Smith’s College and the Saranac Lake Free Library.

Dear patrons of the Saranac Lake Free Library: The Saranac Lake Free Library is pleased to announce that beginning Tuesday, May 4, the SLFL will once again open the doors for limited “In-Person Browsing” of books from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. From 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, the SLFL will close the stacks to the public and continue to provide only “Walk-Up Service” for those patrons who are not yet ready to come in contact with groups of people. We will be able to accommodate limited numbers of people in both the adult collection areas and the Elinor B. Preis Children’s Room.

All people 12+ are eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine in New York State. The Pfizer vaccine is the only one approved for 12-15 year-olds. Many pharmacies, including Kinney s and Walgreens, are taking appointments for young teens accompanied by a parent. Note that this information is always changing; come back for updates. The Saranac Lake Free Library (Enterprise photo — Kevin Shea) SARANAC LAKE Franklin County Public Health will hold a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Saranac Lake Free Library on Thursday for all who are 18 or older and live, work or study in New York state. One hundred Moderna vaccine will be available. The clinic is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Walk-ins will be welcomed. “We will get walk-ins registered and vaccinated,” Franklin County Director of Public Health Katie Strack said in a press release. “We want to get vaccines into as many folks as we can.” Preregistration, however, will speed up the process.
