Sarasota County Area Transit driver tests positive for COVID-19

Staff Report SARASOTA COUNTY – The Florida Department of Health confirmed a positive COVID-19 test result for a Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) driver on Monday, June 28.  After consulting with the health department, SCAT determined the driver operated the bus traveling Route 17 from 1:45 to 7:10 p.m., June 24; and 3:15 to 11 p.m., June 25.  Route 17 links downtown Sarasota to the city of Venice. The health department recommends that anyone who rode these routes on the listed dates to monitor themselves for possible COVID-19 symptoms, such as fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting and diarrhea.
